Reading We are reading the story that ties with what we
just learned in S.S. Were reading, Lewis and Clark; we are
reading about how they lead the Corps of Discovery
westward toward the Pacific Ocean. The vocabulary strategy
were learning is analogies and we are focusing on
monitoring and clarifying what we are reading.

Graduation is on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 4:00


p.m. More information to follow. Our class will be
singing two songs for graduation! There will be a
few solos for the songs. Auditions for the songs are
on Thursday, June 2nd during Music class. If your
child is planning on auditioning, they need to have
the section memorized.

Science We are in the 2nd book of our science series. This


week we are learning about matter: gas, liquid, and solids.
We are also learning about physical and chemical changes.
We will learn about atoms, elements, molecules, and the
atomic theory.

BREAKFAST UPDATE

Social Studies We are taking the Chapter 17 test on


Monday. We will be starting Chapter 18 and 19, which are
the causes of the Civil War and the Civil War. We will be
learning about Gettysburg, the Missouri Compromise, and
Abraham Lincoln, to name a few.

SPIRIT WEEK

Math We are learning about the characteristics and


descriptions of shapes, quadrilaterals, and triangles. We will
be able to describe the shapes, and make a variety of
shapes in 3-D.
Grammar We are learning about creating words by
making them into contractions. We will be making
contractions with not, pronouns, & homophones.

Breakfast will not be served after 8:20, every


morning. Please make sure your child is at school
prior to 8:20 if they are planning on eating
breakfast!!

Thursday Wear a white shirt and bring a sharpie
Friday Wear your Miles for MaLinda short or blue
shirt

HOMEWORK

Lately, students have been forgetting to complete


their homework and turn it in on time. Please
encourage your child to complete their homework.
