and WAPCOS on 25 th
September, 2014.

OBJECTIVES OF THE
PROJECT
The construction of houses for assisting the IOTs in Sri Lanka is
commitment of 50,000 houses announced by the Government of
India in June 2010.
The Project is intended to assist the IOTs (Indian Origin Tamils) to
meet their requirements of shelter.
A total of 4,000 houses would be constructed in various tea estates
in Central and Uva Provinces where the terrain is hilly.
The project will be implemented within the framework of the IndiaSri Lanka MoU signed by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries
on January 17, 2012
