Cooper University Partners to Create

Camden Health Exchange
New interactive medical records system will allow doctors to share patient records
and provide more timely, informed care.
CAMDEN, NJ Today, Cooper University announced it will be a founding partner in the
creation of the Camden Health Exchange.
The exchange will give doctors at all participating facilities access to patient records, allowing
doctors to give more timely and informed care.
We are excited to finally have a tool that is long overdue, said Anthony Mazzarelli, Mmedical
Ddirector of the Emergency Department at Cooper University Hospital. It will help our doctors
be better doctors, and help patients get the care they need and deserve.
The Camden Health exchange will be the first of its kind in the greater Philadelphia region. It
will cost $210,000 in its inaugural year, and $85,000 in the two years that follow.
We hope this will serve as a model for communities and states all across the country, said
Heather Howard, New Jersey Health Commissioner at todays press conference. This has the
potential to change the standard for patient care in every hospital, in every city and town.
Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and Virtua Health will join Cooper University Hospital in
creating the exchange. Patients will be required to grant permission for doctors to share their
records. Those who opt in will be able to have any physician at any of the three facilities access
their medical history, lab reports, and x-rays.
