Hand out paper: What do the underlined words have in
common?
Use the overhead to go over the examples together
Then dramatically flip the paper over . . .:
Ahoy there . . . VERBS!
Discuss what they notice.
Read the book: Kites Sail High
Bring students to the rug.
Work on the Action Verbs worksheet together in class
using both sides, give lots of different students the
opportunity to take part and respond. Use call-on cards so
that everyone is prepared.
In Class Assess: Hand out the Find the Verb sheet for
them to complete in partnerships.
