Description
Put felt hands on the board.
What are these?
What can we do with our hands?
Can we use our hands to use eye droppers?
(hold up an eye dropper they used for science
or creative art)
Can we use our hands to cut with scissors?
(hold up a pair of scissors that they will use for
small focus)
I will tell a story about what my hands can do
with visuals. I will have the children act out
what my hands are doing in the story.
Here are my hands.
My hands can wave hello.
My hands help me can catch and throw.
My hands help me to eat my food.
My hands help me to tie my shoes.
My hands can help me cut with scissors.
My hands can help me brush my teeth.
My hands can help me brush my hair.
My hands can help me play with toys with my
friends.
The words describe the actions:
Have everyone stand up.
My hands upon my head I'll place.
Upon my shoulders, on my face,
At my waist and by my side,
Then behind me they will hide.
Then I'll raise them way up high,
And let my fingers fly, fly, fly,
Then clap, clap, clap them--

Description & Objective

Use one of the felt hands to tap the children on the
shoulder.
When the hand touches your shoulder, go to your
teacher.
Description: First, give each child a piece of
paper. Let them either trace their hand
themselves, or teachers can help them if needed.
Then have them cut out their hands. They can just
cut around the fingers instead of in between if that
is too hard for them. Have them write their names
on their hands. Then they can color the hands
however they want. Once that is finished, read the
book at your table. We will hang the hands up on
the wall after lab.
Objective:
IELG: Opens and closes scissors with one hand.
