Have rules and expectations posted
Have rules and expectations on syllabus
Go over rules and expectations
Not always consistent with rules

WHAT DO I WANT?
Consistent behavior from students
Stop disruptive behavior
Students active in learning

WHY DO I NEED IT?


Need specific consequences/rewards before the situation occurs
No teaching experience when first created in undergrad
Struggle with uninterested/unmotivated students
Struggle with behaviors of upper classmen
Classroom seems disorganized and students can see it
Need for more direction in classroom

HOW CAN I ACHIEVE IT?


Better rules and expectations
Posters of rules and expectations
Rehearsal of expected behavior
Consistent with expectations
Better classroom flow
Seating arrangement that benefits the students

FIRST DAY PLAN


Share expectations that I have for the class
Go over rules
Explain procedures for turning in homework, asking a question,
entering/exiting the classroom, gathering materials for groups, ect.
Give examples (both good and bad) of expectations
Rehearse procedures
