T h i s J a p a n e s e I n d u s t r i a l S t a n d a r d s p e c i f i e s t h e s e t s of high-strength
h e x a g o n b o l t , hexagon nut a n d plai'n w a s h e r s f o r f r i c t i o n g r i p j o i n t s , h e r e i n a f t e r
r e f e r r e d to a s the "sets", t o be u s e d mainly f o r s t e e l constructions. Remark:

C l a s s e s and Grades

The s e t s shall be classified into C l a s s e s 1 , 2 and 3 according to mechanical


p r o p e r t i e s of the p a r t s constituting t h e s e t s , and each c l a s s shall be f u r t h e r

specified in J I S B 0 2 0 5 , and t h e i r g r a d e s h a l l be of 6 ~

T h e m a t e r i a l s f o r t h e b o l t s , n u t s and w a s h e r s s h a i l be such that t h e i r


p r o d u c t s may s a t i s f y t h e r e q u i r e m e n t s of 4 t o 8.
10.

S u r f a c e Treatment

T h e bolts, n u t s and w a s h e r s may be subjected t o a n y s u r f a c e treatment,


provided that it might not a f f e c t a d v e r s e l y t h e i r quality.

s e p a r a t i o n of bolt head b r i n g s forth o r not when f u r t h e r i n c r e a s i n g
t h e t e n s i l e load until t h e bolt b r e a k s down.

t h e s c r e w t h r e a d s , r e t e s t s h a l l b e made a f t e r e i t h e r improving t h e

o f t h e w a s h e r , t h e w a s h e r a t t h e bolt b e a r i n g face m a y be omitted.
