In this assignment I will be creating the SMART targets for my career plan. I will
be describing them and also will be explaining why I think these objectives are
my SMART targets.
Description of SMART objective

Why I think the objective is SMART

Short term and Long term objectives

Finish my BTEC business by completing
9 units to make up the 18 units
required for the full extended diploma.
The first short objectives I have are to
successfully complete my BTEC level
course with a distinction by the end of
the academic year in July. This is
important short term I must achieve
before going on to my Long term
objective. A level 3 qualification is
required to open up opportunities for
higher education. I am working hard to
fulfil my short term objectives. In year
1 I obtained 6 Distinctions and 3
Passes. I am well involved in
completing assignments for the second
year. My intention is to meet deadlines
make improvements following
feedback from lectures and to produce
work of a very high standard. I will
attend all my lessons and workshops so
that I can get the guidance I need from
the lectures. I am quite determined to
meet this objective.

have to complete all my units

Achieving DDD for my units at my

BTEC business course in which I am in
year two, by the end of the academic
year. This is my first short term SMART
objective which I need to complete
successfully by the end of the
academic year because it is important
for me to go into a good university. In

am supposed to do to achieve
DDD in my BTEC Business
course.
Measurable this objective
is measurable because I need to
complete all of my 18 units with
my predicted grades by the end
of my second academic year.

obtained 6 Distinctions and 3 Passes. I
need to complete all my units and the
units which i got a pass in I would like
to try and aim for a higher grade if
possible. I will achieve my SMART
objective as I meet the deadlines for
my assignments and improve my work
with the help of my feedback from
tutors. I will be on time to lessons. In
that way I will not miss any explanation
for my assignment and that will help
me to do my work well.

Achieving good grades at my GCSEs at

English and Math by the end of the
academic year. This is my second short
term SMART objective which I need to
complete successfully by the end of the
academic year because good grades in
my GCSEs will help me to go into a
good university. I am doing my GCSE at
Shipley college whilst studying my
BTEC Business course. I will achieve
my SMART objective as I meet the
deadlines for my GCSEs and attending
all my lessons.

after i finish my BTEC business course

short term SMART objective which I
need to complete successfully by

having a good career I need to have a
good degree from a good university. I
can achieve my MART objectives as I
am currently studying in college and
doing my best to achieve good grades
in my units as attending all my lessons
