    Signalement
    A1.5yearold,intactfemale,Bordercolliedog

    Case History
    Thedogwaspresentedtothereferringveterinarianwithatwoweekhistoryofbeinglethargic.Ithad
    attendedaherdingtrainingcamptwoweekspreviously.Ithadneverbeenoutsideofthenorthernpart
    ofSwedenandhadnothadanyectoparasitesaccordingtotheowner.Therewasnosuspicionof
    intoxicationandthetherewasnohistoryofpreviousillnessormedication.

    Physical exam
    Onpresentationthedogwaslethargicandhadpalemucousmembranes,poorbodyconditionanda
    poorhaircoat.

    Laboratory findings
    AbloodsamplewassubmittedbymailtheClinicalPathologyLaboratory,UniversityAnimalHospital,
    SwedishUniversityofAgriculturalSciences,Uppsala,Sweden, foracompletehematologicalprofile.The
    hematologyanalysiswasperformedonanAdvia2120hematologyinstrument(SiemensHealthcare
    Diagnostics,Erlangen,Germany)andbyevaluationofaMayGrnwaldGiemsastainedbloodsmear.
    Thebloodsamplewasruntwiceonthehematologyinstrumentbecausetheresultsfromthefirstrun
    camewithmanyflags.Theresultsfromthesecondrundifferedfromtheresultsfromthefirstrunbut
    theflagsweresimilar.
    Asecondbloodsamplewassubmitted17dayslater.
