(Arjuna)

Archetype
INDIA AND PAKISTAN TRAY J.

Overview

Our region is India and Pakistan and my god is Arjuna. My character

archetype is the Hero, My situation archetype is the Quest, and my
symbolic archetype is the Magical Weapon. This PowerPoint summarizes
and review Arjunas main quest(Conquest For Rajasuya), his magical
bow(Gandiva), and basically the way he was and how he was thought
of by other people. It also describes the relationship between him and
his bow which was actually the source that made him as courageous
and skillful as he was. The story of Arjuna is well throughout the
Mahabharata. It also goes over a little bit of his background
information.

Character (Hero)
Arjuna
-Was a favorite among the common people and led a very difficult life to achieve peace.
-His main goal was to defeat the Kaurava brothers and take control of the kingdoms.
He was the most important of the 5 princes in the Mahabharata
(Sanskrit epic of ancient India)
He was also honest and intelligent and the only person who remains defeated
throughout the epic
-3rd oldest ,middle brother
of Pandava brothers

(Cont)

He had quite a few adventures with the god Krishna despite the fact
that Krishna is not only a god but the reincarnation of the god Vishnu,
Arjuna treats Krishna more like a peer instead of with the respect that a
junior member of the family should feel for a supreme god. Forming a
warrior pair with Krishna, Arjuna burns down the Khandava Forest, so it
becomes suitable for building the Pandava capital city, Indraprastha,
which is probably present-day New Delhi in India.

Situational (Quest)

knowing no fatigue,Arjunawalked without resting, crossing many great

rivers, climbing over many mountains, his goal was to get to the great
mountain of Himavat in the north. Neither men nor animal dared to
mess with him, none of them crossed his path, for they look at the
extraordinary warrior, with his massive bow and quivers was enough for
them to know that he was not a man to be to jokingly.

(cont)

Arjuna was sent north by Yudhishthira to takeover kingdoms for the

Rajasuya Yagya (conquest for rajasuya), so that he could be crowned
Emperor of Indraprastha. The Mahabharata mentions several kingdoms
to the east of Indraprastha which were conquered by Arjuna. ex:
-Trigartas, the Daravas, the Kokonadas, and various other Kshatriyas

town of Avisari

Rochamana ruling in Uraga

Singhapura adi

Regions Suhma and Sumala

Symbolic (the magical weapon)

Arjunas magical weapon is his Bow (Gandiva)and Arrows from which he

received from Varuna(god of oceans).
He created such a strong bond with the Gavinda that it would not allow
another being to use it.Every the string is twanged it makes a sound of
thunder. It was given to Arjuna during the battle of Khandava Forest. Agni
simply wanted to burn the Khandava forest and handed it to Arjuna in order
for Arjuna to ward off Indra while he burned the forrest. They eventually had
to part ways when Agni wished for Arjuna to return Gavinda to Varuna and
that was the end of Arjunas heroism. They together, were both powerful and
unbeatable and the bow itself was used by many handlers such as Prajapati,
Indra, Soma, Varuna and Agni before finally being handed to Arjuna. The
bow was created by Brahma, the Creator of universe.
