Lesson 7, Immunodeficiency

Specific Objectives [What will students know, understand, or be able to do as a result of the lesson? Remember, objectives must be measurable.]
Students will be able to explain the following giving examples:

a. Innate/Acquired, humoral (B-cell) and/or Cellular (T-cell)


b. Disorders of gamma-globulin: agammaglobulinemia, hypoglobulinaemia;
c. Immunoglobulin deficiency e.g. IgA, Light chain disease, Heavy chain disease.
Initiation [How will you help students connect with the previous lesson and/or their prior knowledge? How will you gain their interest in the lesson?]
The lesson will begin with a Pow Toons clip from the url: https://youtu.be/nTgyUXqkQeo. This will be followed by an in class discussion of the of the clip.
Procedures ([List the activities that the students will participate in to facilitate their learning.]
1. In class clinical case discussions using familiar cases to for immunodeficiency disorders.
2. Questions will be shared on google circle in which each student will have to add their comment, comments will contribute to their course work grade.
Closure [How will you cause students to reflect on what they have learned?]
Lecture will conclude with digital flash cards; these will give students a chance to predict the type of immunodeficiency diseases based on the picture or

questions on the card.

1. Questions will be shared on google circle in which each student will have to add their comment, comments will contribute to their course work grade
2. Online course test in a controlled environment at week 6
Strategies for Technology Integration [How will you integrate technology use in this lesson in order to enhance the learning experience of your students?]
Microsoft power point will be used as the major presentation tool, google drive will be used to share presentations while giving students the ability to comment
on posted materials. Google sharing option will be used to share you tube videos with material relevant to the course. Microsoft power point will also be used as
a tool to generate animations to explain processes
