Operating voltage
= (V1 + V2) 2
= (2538 + 3142) 2
= 2 840 V

Post-Lab Questions
1. Is there any way to eliminate background radiation?
There is no way to eliminate background radiation because background radiation
comes from many things. But, background radiation can be minimized by using a
shielding according to the types of background radiation existed.
2. What is your prediction for the number of background radiation counts that your body
would receive a day? How many counts per year?
Prediction for the number of background radiation counts that body would receive a
day is 0.005 mSv (millisievert). Background number receive per year is 1.5-3.5 mSv.
3. Are all the background measurements exactly the same number of counts? Is there a
systematic cause for this?
Not all background measurements have exactly the same number of counts. There is
no systematic cause for this because the number of counts can be affected by the types
and amounts of material and also the environment.
