Lesson

The purpose of this lesson is to have students think about and


discuss the primary source documents relating to the Treaty of
Rapallo. Students will also learn about US isolationism, the
Anglo-American Guarantee as well as British Isolationism.
1-2 classes
IB History 11
Students will be expected to:
Understand the concepts behind the League of Nations
and why these proved difficult to carry out
Use the documents to form your own understanding and
opinions the issues presented
Compare and contrast the differing opinions presented
within the Treaty of Rapallo
Learn about what is meant by US isolationism, about
what the Anglo-American Guarantee is as well as
British Isolationism
Reading
Listening

PowerPoint
Handout on US Isolationism, the Anglo-American
Guarantee and British Isolationism
20th Century World History IB Textbook
Have students take out their questions on the Treaty of
Rapallo on pages 38 and 39 of their textbook that
should have been finished since the previous class
while taking attendance
Begin going over the answers the students have come
up with for the questions
After finishing the questions start going through the
PowerPoint covering US Isolationism, the AngloAmerican Guarantee and British Isolationism
Have students discuss the questions that appear on Page
45 (Debate on the Treaty of Versailles) as well as the IB
Learner Profile Link
Have students begin reading Chapter 1 of their textbook
