Meeting called to order 1:08 PM


Facilitator: Edgar Morales
Updates from Resource Fair:
- With increase in fee ($40), significant
decrease in vendors
o 54 this year; 98 last year
- 137 participants signed in
o Budget Review: Current Balance:
$2224.00; approximately $1000 from
Resource Fair
- Comments:
o Facebook on directory cover page would
be appreciated
o Increase space at tables
o Great Information
o Understandable sign up for Resource
Directory
- Next Fair April 20; with discussion re: some
schools not in session due to observation of
Columbine anniversary or parent teacher
conferences
o Not be an issue because fair after school
hours
Costs per meeting discussed

- Interpreter costs
- $8.00 for room usage; currently waived per
Pikes Peak Work Force Center; will be double
checked to ensure no payments due

Transition
What are Transition Services?
- Work together and collaborate with students
best interests in mind
- Areas Represented- El Paso and Teller
Counties Pikes Peak Region and BOCES:
Eastern CO
- Acceptance of diploma or certificate of
completion will end services from school
- Turning 21 also ends services at end of that
semester: fall or spring
State Discussion:
- Student must have met graduation
requirements to receive Transition services

- All students with IEPs- no Guaranteed


eligibility for Transition Services
- Pikes Peak Community College currently has
no Remedial Training for Transition students
o Eastern New Mexico University
2 week independent living trial
- Lifelong services recommended
- TRE willing to assist clients 18-21 if services
not educationally based
Introduction Classes with DuMyon Martial Arts
- 5 different school districts
- DuMyon thanked all who participated
- Free self-defense classes: next 3 Tuesdays;
7:00-8:00 PM at Penrose Library
- Hiker, jogger self-defense class: June 14
Saturday ARC Dinner
- Thanks to all sho participated
- Upcoming 4th of July event: fireworks with
parking;
will bring information to next meeting
Social Activities
- Need for social activities or opportunities to
make friends outside of school

- Connections requested for possible monthly


or quarterly activities for Transition aged
adults e.g.: Meadow Muffins
- Friends outside of school needed to assist
with Transition
o Lifelong friends
o Re-connections
Next Meeting:
- 1:00 PM June 16
- Transition Coordinators will be in Pueblo for
conference
- September: first meeting most Transition
Coordinators will return
- Facilitator and Note Taker sign in sheet sent
around: please sign up!
