SUGGESTED LEARNING AND TEACHING ACTIVITIES

Students are to change into their PE uniform and meet in the school gymnasium.
Students are to be marked of the role and directed to gather necessary equipment from the
school sports shed.
Students are to meet at the school cricket pitch located in the middle of the football oval.
From here the teacher will explain how the idea of anticipation and decision making
influence sport performance.
Students will take turns to time the amount of time available to performers at certain points
in the game. E.g. time between bowler run-up and ball release, ball release and bat contact,
etc.
Example: Students will limit the amount of time they will be allowed to anticipate the bowled
ball. One student will say now when the batter is allowed to initiate movement. The effects
of reduced anticipation will be discussed.
Students will demonstrate performance outcomes with varied amounts of anticipation. These
activities are student centered and will be monitored by the teacher. Students will initiate and
make decisions on how, and what time frame activities are to occur in.
***As this activity promotes the likelihood of batters missing the bowled ball on multiple
occasions, it is important to use softer balls, to reduce the risk of injury to students.
Students will compile their results and discuss how anticipation and decision making
influence the outcomes of student performances. The teacher will link all practical examples
to theoretical concepts learnt in class.

Students will be given time to change out of their PE uniforms at the end of class, as well as
put all used equipment away.
Lesson evaluation:
- Did the students enjoy the tasks?
- Did students understand and comprhend the learning objectives?
- Where students able to make the link between practice and performance benefits?
