Criticisms and controversies

The BBC was established in 1922 as a privately controlled


company,In 1926 Unions called for a general strike, Stanley
Bandwin and his Conservative party feared the outbreak of
revolution as had happened in Russia in 1917. The Labour Party
accused the BBC of being Pro-government and anti-Union.
In 1984 the BBC faces more criticism when a Panorama episode
broadcast "Maggies militant tendency", this claimed that some
conservative MPs hand links to far right organisation.Neil Hamilton
and Gerald Howarth who were named on the show sued the BBC
for damages.

Moving to more recent years, In 2008 Russell Brand and Jonathan


Ross cause controversy on Radio 2 when they prank called actor
Andrew Sachs where brand claimed to have had sexual relations
with his granddaughter. The BBC suspended both Brand and Ross.
This event also lead to the resignation on radio 2's controller
Lesley Douglas.

Jeremy Clarkson
In 2015 the BBC announced that it would not be renewing the top
gear presenters contract this was after yet another major conflict,
Mr Clarkson is said to have punched a producer on his show over a
catering issue.
Clarkson has made remarks about those with special needs, who
live in poor countries, racial and sectarian remarks and called the
them Prime Minster Gorden Brown a "one eyed idiot"

Jimmy Savile
Allegations of abuse we're make first about savile back in 1963, He
has often been asked about the allegation in interviews through
out his life.
When Savile passed away the BBC's Newsnight began to investigate
the allegations, the show did t air the item. Meanwhile in 2012 ITV
broadcast a documentary "The other side of Savile".
In late 2012 the Police found themselves with hundreds of
allegations. Places that had memorials of Savile were removed.
In June 2014 Jermery Hunt apologised to patents abuse by Savile
in the National health service.
