History Box
Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 have spent an exciting time talking about the job of an archaeologist and using brushes
in our fabulous history box to excavate objects hidden by Rachel Robin. It wasn't easy and took much
longer than the children thought, but when we unearthed the objects it was very exciting.
Thank you to our PTA for funding the history box.
Book Fair
Please dont forget that the Scholastic Book Fair will be back soon. It will be open
straight after school on Monday 20, Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 June.
There will be a different range of books to choose from last time. You will receive a flier
next week showing some of the books on offer. As previously the school will earn good
rates of commission to spend on new books to add to our growing library. Last time we
received over 600 worth of books on commission! Thank you.
We are Writers!
Every child at Mill View has submitted a piece of writing to our newly published book,
We are Writers. The sample copy, printed for us by Scholastic is now in school and will
be on display at the book fair next week. It features beautiful art work created by Year
5 on the front cover.
Order your copy for 5.99 by paying online at ParentPay. Your book will be delivered to
school before the end of the summer term.
Have you got the date of the PTA Great British Summer Celebration 1pm to
4pm on Saturday 09 July in your diary? We look forward to seeing as many families
on the day and we are hoping the sun will be out!

School Choir
Did you see the article about the two school choirs joining together to raise 100 for the Babygrow Appeal?
We were extremely proud of all our children who gave a wonderful performance of songs over the last few
decades to their parents, grandparents and siblings. Thank you to Miss Cottrell, Mrs Batchelor and Mr
Wallace for organising this event.
Childrens Behaviour
This year our school was chosen by the DfE to be part of a sampling programme for science tests at the
end of key stage 2. Five children in Year 6 were randomly chosen to sit biology, chemistry and physics
papers which took place on Monday 06 June. I received this email yesterday from the Test Administer
which I would like to share with you. It is always a joy for our children to receive recognition for their
outstanding behaviour and conduct from a member of a public body.
I just wanted to write to thank you and the pupils for their help with the Science testing on Monday.
The childrens attitude and behaviour was exemplary and it was a pleasure to work with them - they
are a real credit to the school and made my job very easy!
I hope you all enjoy the remainder of the summer term and especially their production of Bugsy
Malone.

Friday 01 July
On Friday 01 July the children and staff in the schools across the
Trust will be supporting a fundraising event by wearing blue and/or
pink clothes for a donation of 1 (non-uniform day). If you would
also like to support this event please wear blue and/or pink when
dropping off or picking up your child.
The donations will be given to

changing operation for their 5 year old boy called Aash who

to fund an additional 21K as the NHS funding has been
withdrawn. Aash is taught by Mr Gilberts wife in a Cheshire
School
2. Cancer Research this is a charity we support as a school as
