WHAT DID CINDY DO BEFORE BECOMING A PHOTOGRAPHER ?

She began painting at the buffalo
state college. This is when she got
her bachelor of arts in 1976.
In college she also stared to photo
narrate herself.

She moved to new York in 1977 when she was awarded a national
endowment for the Arts grant.

But she has always had something to do with the arts portion of work.

EARLY WORK
In the 1970s she started to come out with black and white photographs
that were called Untitled Film Stills.The photos were showing her a B
movie actress in various poses. `
Cindy Sherman is a master of socially critical photography

SPECIALTY
Sherman uses elaborate costumes and make-up to transform her identity
for each image
is known for common female social roles, or personas.
she uses extended role playing of fantasy Hollywood, fashion, mass
advertising.
Sexual desire and domination, the fashioning of self identity is another
area she is commonly seen in the public eye.
