My Name:
Prompt: Write two poems using any of the forms we covered in class. Make the two poems relate
in some way. Use descriptive language (describe sights, sounds, smells, touch, tastes) and poetic
devices (simile, metaphor, alliteration, etc). Think about line and form. Great poems will use
poetic form, poetic devices, and precise language to describe their topic.
Rubric.
Point breakdown: 10 points x 2 poems = 20 total.
10 A 10 has all the qualities of a 9, but has exemplary style and effectively uses sensory details and poetic
devices. It has no errors.
09 A 9 has created two poems that make sense and relate to each other. The poems use some sensory detail
and poetic devices, and there is a consideration of the form. The language is clear and concise. There are
little to no errors in grammar or punctuation (unless intentional).
