The Pasyn (Spanish: Pasin) is a Philippine epic narrative of the Passion, Death,

and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. In stanzas of five lines of eight syllables each, the standard
elements of epic poetry are interwoven with a colourful, dramatic theme.
The entirety of the text is chanted during the Lenten season and particularly during Holy Week. Its
uninterrupted recitation is a popular Filipino Catholic devotion.
The Senakulo (from the Spanish cenaculo) is a Lenten play that depicts events from the Old and New
Testaments related to the life, sufferings, and death of Christ.
The senakulo is traditionally performed on a proscenium-type stage with painted cloth or paper backdrops that
are called telon. It takes at least eight nights from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday - to present the play. Christ
is presented traditionally as meek and masochistic, submitting lamblike to his fate in obedience to authority.
Salubong (Tagalog for meeting) is a traditional Filipino devotion that reenacts the encounter of the
risen Christ with his mother. In communities in the Philippines, on the morning of Easter Sunday,
statues of the risen Christ and of the blessed mother are carried through town in two separate
processions. The men of the community, in a procession of joyful celebration, accompany the statue of
Christ; the women of the community, in a somber procession of mourning, accompany the image of
the sorrowful mother, shrouded in a black mourning veil. They arrive at a designated meeting place,
usually in front of the church, where a little girl dressed as an angel removes the black mourning veil
from the statue of Mary. This devotion is celebrated in many parishes in the United States that serve
the Filipino community.

Pastores is Christmas season folk dance and song practiced in many parts of Samar. The pastores
(shepherds) recounts the story of the shepherds who visited the child Jesus in the manger through a song.
They go house to house singing the daygon (worship). In some place the song is also
called pastores or pastorada. These are songs of happy mood with a uniform message that tells the people to
rejoice because the Savior was born. Most of the daygon are sung in Waray but the oldest ones are in Spanish
or mixed diglot. A daygon version found in Can-avid, Eastern Samar was a diglot with opening line goes like "
Bulan han Diciembre, bulan nga bulahan. Kami nga mga pastores nagrarayhak..." The song is ended with a
Spanish invitation: "Vamos, vamos pastores de Belen".

Flores de Mayo (Spanish for "Flowers of May") is a festival held in the Philippines in the month of
May. It is one of the May devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary and lasts for the entire month.
The Santacruzan is the pageant on the last day of Flores de Mayo, held in honour of Helena of
Constantinople (known as Reyna Elena) and Constantine the Great finding the True
Cross in Jerusalem. Its observance in May probably stems from the old Galician date forRoodmas,
which was abolished when Pope John XXIII combined it with the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross
on 14 September.
Panuluyan or Panunuluyan (Tagalog for "asking for lodgings") is a Philippine Christmas dramatic ritual
narrating the Holy Family's search for a place to stay in Bethlehem for Jesus Christ's birth through song.
