Clinical Exposure (15 March 2012)
On the 15th of March me and my group went to the Silom Hospital Kebun
Jeruk , we were assigned to go to the pharmacy department and we were guided by a
pharmacist name Bobby. In Siloam Kebun Jeruk the pharmacy department were
divided into three division, the basement floor (warehouse storage for drugs), the first
floor of the old building (24 hours pharmacy, center of buying drugs), and the second
floor of new building.
The storage room is divided into two sections, drug and medical equipment. In
the drug section, the drug is divided again according to the type and variety (Drugs
with green circle, blue circle and red circle with a K letter symbol, vaccines,
narcotics). These medicines are stored in a shelf organized by ordering the drugs
name in an alphabetical order, but not for vaccines and narcotics, vaccines where
stored in the freezer and narcotics were stored in a safety drawer. The storage room is
a place where drugs and medical equipment are received from the suppliers and then
passed on to the two other pharmacy on the first and second floor. Any drug that is
stored on the shelf must be written in the card stock. Card stock used to see how much
drugs comes out and how many are there inside the shelf. Card stock can also be used
as evidence when any drug is lost. The contents of the card stock is the name of the
drug, the date of entry number, the remaining number, initials, and description.
This department is indeed a very important department since almost all of the
patient needed drug to cure them, and these are the department that provides drugs for
patient, this department must be organized well since it is divided into 3 sections, each
sections must communicate properly to successfully give the patient the right
medicine according to the doctors given prescription.
