Practice Blog- week beginning 11th January 2016

This week I sang through the major scales in the octave changing vowel
sounds each time ensuring that my fluency was correct as well as my tone. I
then sang the minor scales within the octave to get to grips with the difference in
sounds. I found it hard to sing the minor scales because I am so used to singing
only major scales during warm ups, it took me a while to get the hang of how it
sounds and I think that it is going to take me more practice to get this. I tried to
get used to which main notes change within the scale and focusing on switching
the notes as I go up the scale. A major scale: A B C# D E F# G# A to nature
minor: A B C D E F G - the 3rd, 6th and 7th notes change so by singing up the major
scale but shifting these notes I progressed in my ability to sing these and
become more fluent. I did this 4 times this week but towards the end of the week
I still struggled because the major scale is just so familiar.
