One Time Workshops
Kindergarten Literacy Expectations: July 7, 2016, 6:30-7:30pm
Jones Room at Tufts Library. Facilitated by Shannon Shepard, Full Day Kindergarten Teacher At
Murphy Primary School.

Kindergarten STEM expectations: August 4, 2016, 6:30-7:30pm

Jones Room at Tufts Library. Facilitated by Helen Murphy, Full Day Kindergarten Teacher at
Wessagussett Primary School.

Both Workshops are for all incoming Fall 2016 Weymouth kindergarteners and their
families. They are drop-in and dont require a sign-up.

Multi- Session Programming

BOKS- Getting Your Mind and Body Ready for Kindergarten!
Thursdays: 6:00-7:00, Legion Field
This eight week program is designed to engage families in fun physical activity while teaching
participants about the development of kindergarten readiness through movement. Participation is
open to any child entering Weymouth kindergarten in the fall of 2016 and their caregivers.
Caregivers are required to stay with their child and participate in all sessions they attend.

Kindergarten Story Hour:

Tuesdays: 10:45-11:30, Pratt Library
The story hour will use the Second Step Curriculum and focuses on social emotional development.
Families will interact with literature and participate in activities that will build their empathy,
emotional ID, and regulation skills.

This event is sponsored by the Weymouth Community and Family Engagement Grant through the Department of Early
Education and Care and Administered by the Weymouth Public Schools.
