BE A GOOD STORY TELLER

SPEAKING CLASS

THE BOY WHO CRIED

WOLF

Mampuono

Once there was a shepherd boy who tended his sheep at the foot of a
mountain.

He used to feel lonely during the day. He thought of an idea whereby he

could get some company and excitement

The boy thought it would be funny to fool the villagers. As the sheep ate the grass, the shepherd boy
cupped his hand near his mouth and shouted, "Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is stealing the sheep! Come help me!"

On hearing his shouts, the villagers came to save him. But no wolf was seen. The angry villagers went back.

The boy enjoyed this trick and after a few days repeated the same act. Once
again the villagers came to help him.

But this time the villagers realised they had been

fooled once more by the naughty boy.

One day real wolves actually came to attack and this time the boy shouted
even louder than before.

All his sheep were killed and stolen by the wolves.

The shepherd boy ran into the village. "Wolf! Wolf!" he cried. Theyre stealing our sheep!"
The boy kept running and calling for help, but no one believed he was telling the truth.

Finally the boy became poor and lost everything. As the wise saying goes, No one can know when a liar speaks the
truth.
