Export Procedure

Role of Custom House Agent

Obtaining shipping order: Enables booking


space on the ship.
Arrangement for internal transport: From the
exporters factory to the dock.
Preparation of shipping bill: Required for
customs clearance. Prepared in 5 copies.
Submission of documents to customs: Includes
commercial invoice, shipping bill, packing list,
etc.
Obtaining carting order: From Port trust
authorities.

Storing of goods: Required for examination of


goods. Goods are stored in the sheds at the
dock.
Obtaining Let Export order: Customs examiner
will examine the goods and if satisfied, will issue
the Let Export Order.
Loading of goods: onto the ship.
Payment of Port Trust dues: Port trust dues are
paid for using the dock. Post payment, mates
receipt has to be collected from port trust
authorities.

Obtaining Bill of Lading: Mates receipt is


exchanged for bill of lading, which is given by
the shipping company. It is an imp document
required for clearance of goods at port of
destination by the importer.
