Lesson Objectives (i.e. anticipated outcomes of this lesson, in point form beginning with an action verb)
As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
Revise prior learning from past Ancient Egypt lessons with focus on Gods, Goddesses and religion.
Identify important and relevant information from text book, videos etc. in relation to Egyptian Religion and Life,
Mummification and the Pyramids.
Discuss learned information from investigation as a class.
Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation:
Observation of prior History lessons
Liaise with Mentor approximately 2 days before
scheduled lesson to allow for editing and
improvement of lesson plan if necessary.
Teacher has previously revised text book: Pearson
History 7 (Teachers Companion) pages 151-160.
Students have person copy of Pearson History 7 and

Students with learning difficulties (including but not
limited to dyslexia, dyspraxia, low level concentration,
and/or low level cognitive ability) will be supported
through visual aids such as YouTube, picture-centered
websites and hard copy class handouts etc.
Students who are gifted and/or talented will benefit

have the option of viewing YouTube videos with
subtitles. Students can also zoom in on website to
allow for increased font size.
Students will have option to use personal IT device
(iPad) to type answers if writing proves difficult.

discussion when teacher sees fit.

FOR ALL STUDENTS:


Mummification
Students use student writing books titled: Egyptian Religion and Life and make
a sub-heading Egyptian Mummification
Students to open text book to page 156 and read Mummification and
Mummies and Modern Times paragraphs
Teacher to hand out Horrific Habits Info Sheet (Appendix 1) to each student.
Teacher to go through sheet with students.

10:15am

Pyramids
Students write a second sub-heading: Pyramids in writing book.
Students/Teacher reads The Pyramids: Houses for Eternity (pg 158), Egypts
Famous Pyramids (pg 158) and Building the Pyramids (pg 159)
YouTube video How were the Pyramids Built? (6:20) is loaded and played on
interactive whiteboard.

Lesson Closure and Transition:


10:35am

Students transition to class room teacher to begin Geography teststudy.

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?)
Objective 1:
Revise prior learning from past Ancient Egypt lessons with focus on Gods,
Goddesses and religion.
To meet objective, students will participate in prior knowledge discussion where
students will review learned information from previous lessons (see Students
Prior Knowledge box pg 1). Objective to be judged through verbal assessment.
Objective 2:
Identify important and relevant information from text book, videos etc. in
relation to Egyptian Religion and Life, Mummification and the Pyramids.
To meet objective, students will participate in class discussion, watch YouTube
videos, examine information sheet (Appendix 1), and deduce relevant
information from student text book. Objective to be judged through both written
and verbal assessment in the forms of class discussion and written entries into
work book. Work book to be collected at end of lesson.
Objective 3:
Discuss learned information from investigation as a class.
To meet objective, students will participate in class discussion sharing
information and ideas in a positive manner. Objective to be judged through
verbal assessment.
