Cement Export Commodity

Cement is one of the major construction material and export


item of Pakistan.

As of 2013-2014, Pakistan cement export was 508.15 USD


Millions which makes 2.02% of total exports.

Cost of cement is 29% energy, 27% raw materials, 32% labor


and 12% depreciation.

Pakistan is one of the top ten countries by installed production


capacity.

Industry Outlook

24 plants in the country.

Total production capacity of cement is 45.61 Million metric


ton.

Top three major plants by cement production capacity are


Lucky Cement Limited (Pezu), Bestway Cement Limited
(Chakwal), and Lucky Cement Limited (Karachi) by 3.78, 3.60,
and 3.60 Million metric ton respectively.

Industry Outlook

Total cement export in 2013-2014 was 8.13 million metric ton.


3.65 metric ton exported to Afghanistan, 0.67 to India, and
3.80 to other counties.

From June 2013 to July 2014

Cement production capacity 44.64 million metric ton.

26.15 million metric local market.

8.13 million metric ton export.

76.79% of total capacity is utilized.

10.36 million metric ton cement in surplus.

World Demand Outlook

GDP versus Cement Consumption is a striking visual


representation of a country's stage of development.

Emerging nations, such as China, South Korea and Saudi


Arabia, are instantly recognizable. Their cement demand is
often far in excess of countries with comparable GDPs and is
representative of the significant national investments in
infrastructure taking place in these areas.

By contrast, smaller economies with low GDPs and little or no


infrastructure investment have small cement consumptions.

World Demand Outlook

In Q12015 world consumed 4193 Million metric ton


57.5% in China
7.4% in India
7.8% in developed
28.2% in emerging countries.

And there is 3.7% chance of growth in consumption of


world. There is 3.0% growth in China, 3.2% in mature
economies and 5.1% in emerging economies excluding
China.

Conclusion
Pakistan cement industry has capacity to increase its export by
searching new markets and expanding existing one. However
there are some problems in meeting production goal. If these
problems are tackled than it would result in million dollars
export.
