6-20 Course Summary
6-20 Course Summary
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (a doctor who has two sides due to an experiment, the Dr
who represents the morality of the middle class, and Mr Hyde, who is free from this
morality); Jack the Ripper: Represents the Victorian attitudes towards the poor. Most
of the course is looking at marginalized groups of people. What happens as a
consequence of massive social change? Social attitudes towards the poor. The
upper class considers themselves virtuous and moral in comparison to the poor (still
happens today)
Midwife: Also looks at modernity. The modern period also represents progress.
