Assessment of Learning II
Ms. Shane Carmie Sapera

The official Mathematics Grading Sheet of the Grade 8-Ostrich in Mangaldan National High
School during the First Quarter (S.Y.: 2015-2016). A at total of 41 students, twenty (20) are boys and
there are 21 girls. The grading sheet shown the distribution of percentage and breakdown of scores/results
focuses on Written Works, Quarterly Assessment and Performance Task.
First, the Written Works which is equivalent to 40% pf their Quarter Grade. As shown in the grading sheet
under Written Works (40%), the highest percentage computed is 26.40 (Mejia, Jr. Rogelio) and the lowest
percentage computed is 19.20 (Torralba, Roland Kenneth). Second, the Quarterly Assessment which is
equivalent to 20% of their Quarter Grade. The highest percentage computed is 10.93 and the lowest
percentage calculated is 4.00 (8-Student). Lastly, the Performance Task which is equivalent to 40%. As
shown in the table of Performance Task (40%), the highest percentage computed is 35.20 (Mejia, Jr.
Rogelio) and the lowest percentage calculated is 25.60 (Torralba, Roland Kenneth). Since the passing rate
given by the DepEd is 75%, only 4-student (May Ann Serraon, Kyla Malanum, Aljun Villafania, Roland
Kenneth Torralba) didnt reached the given standard meaning, the 36 students reached the passing rate
(75%).
The mean of their Written Works (40/%) is computed as 22.47. For the Performance Task, the
mean calculated is 32.61. Lastly, the Quarterly Assessment mean computed is 7.50.
But the most important to know is the mean of their Final Grade during the First Quarter, and the mean is
76.48%. The scores and Quarter Grade of Grade 8-Ostrich are not that dispersed or not that far from each
other. Since, Abril Caroline dont have a percentage in her Written Works, Performance Task and
Quarterly Assessment I decided to removed her from the list even she has a Final Grade of 79. So, the
new total population is 40. By applying the Level of Proficiency, in the level of Beginning (74-below)
only one student failed this quarter. In the level of Developing (75-79) there are 32-student belonged in
this level while the remaining 7 student are placed in the Approaching Proficient (80-84).
Based from the data I gathered which is the Grading Sheet in Math during their 1 st Quarter (S.Y.:
2015-2016), the students are didnt performed very well because of the percentage computed but the
important is, the mean average of their Quarter Grade is 76.48. Since, Grade 8-Ostrich is lower section
(27th out of 35 Sections) the teacher should be improve their Mathematics Skills/Performance especially
in their Written Works and Quarterly Assessment by utilizing appropriate strategy. I suggest drill and
practice to the subject Math teacher (Mrs. Jesusa Sanoy). It is very essential to keep on practicing on
solving math problems/equations because it will improve the Mathematics Skills/Performance through the
use of drill and practice. The repetition of facts/knowledge about mathematics will enhancing and
acquiring mastery of the learning content, better understanding and also the continuity of the subject
matter Practice makes perfect.
