a computer captures sound with a transducer, this captures the pressure wave
created by sound and produces an electrical voltage or current that varies in
proportion to the sound pressure

or DAC (digital to analogue converter)
when converting, the process going on is called PCM(pulse code modulation), this
part, measuring is called PAM(pulse amplitude modulation)
