Tau State President
2015-2017
As you make your plans for your chapter meetings for 2016 2017, please remember to
invite me to one (or more) of them. Its so interesting and exciting to see whats going
on around the state. Of the 18 chapters we had, 11 chapters besides my own, extended
an invitation. I thoroughly enjoyed each meeting, not only the content of the program
and business meetings, but to see good friends and meet new women. I hope to make it
to the other chapters in the coming year, as well as return visits. Please invite, too, our
1st Vice President, Ann Vanvick, since she will become state president a year from now.
Our June retreat planning is nearly complete. If you havent signed up yet, the form is
on the state website. Were planning for some expanded empowerment, some making
new friends and a lot of fun, too. You dont need to be in a leadership position to attend
the retreatall are welcome and encouraged to be at St. Bens (plus the food is great!).
What are you doing for the 4th of July? Many of us will be in Nashville, TN, for the
DKG International Convention to represent us on the International Board, to let our
voices be heard at the general sessions, to attend many fine breakout sessions, and to
celebrate our own Barbara Whitings installation as International 1st Vice President. Will
you be there to lend your applause and support? Also, MN-Tau will have a vendor table
at the convention. Immediate Past President Kathy Patton has received several hundred
cards for us to sell. She is looking for some MN-Tau members to help sell our wares, so
register for Nashville, drive or fly down, and help out!
Im off to Austin, TX, Friday, July 17, for the DKG Golden Gift Leadership Seminar that I
am grateful to have been chosen to attend. The Seminar starts on Sunday, July 19 and I
return to MN a little over two weeks later, on July 30, hopefully brimming with lots of
new leadership skills.
Have a lovely summer, a safe and glorious Fourth of July, and we look forward to
meeting with chapter officers on Friday, August 5, from 9 a.m. 3 p.m., place to be
determined. Congratulations to all the newly elected chapter officers!
Due to the generosity of all Tau State members, Nu, Pi and Beta
Alpha chapters were able to give over $200.00 to the Backpack
Food Program of Blue Earth county. This donation will
go towards providing books in the backpacks.
Members of Tau State participated in a
scarf exchange during the conference.

Super 16 Leaders,
We will have a reunion on the evening of July 4th so that you, as a group, may
reconnect and celebrate your achievements during the first year of your biennium. We
will share a few techniques to help you through the second year with even more
success. You are a very special group. I wish you all the success possible and thank you
for contributions during this past year. Who will greet you in Nashville?

Chapter News
On May 7th, four Beta Alpha members joined fellow DKG member, Julie Bauer,
and family in the From the Heart 8th annual run/walk fundraiser for Owatonna
community members with cancer. Julies daughter had special tee shirts made
for members to wear that day. Julie has finished her chemotherapy and will
receive radiation June 6th through July 12th. Many of the Beta Alpha members
are driving her to Northfield for the treatments. From the Heart raised
$12,500 towards defraying Julies medical expenses.
Kerry Dammer and Julie Stauber, two Kappa Chapter members,
spent almost two weeks exploring the Black Hills and Badlands
of South Dakota. The exploration began in Deadwood with reenactments of the life and times of legends such as Wild Bill
Hickock and Calamity Jane. From there, the trip continued up to
Devil's Tower, down to Custer State Park and its famous
"Tatanka" or bison, up to Harney's Peak, and around Sylvan
Lake. The Crazy Horse Memorial and Mt. Rushmore both needed
full days to appreciate. Finally, a trip into the Badlands with a
great sighting of a herd of big horned sheep concluded the trip.
