A compact planar microstrip line-fed slot antenna for aircraft system has been proposed in this invention. The proposed
antenna comprises a tapered-shape slot and T-shape tuning stub. The antenna is fabricated into an inexpensive FR4
substrate with an overall dimension of 22 24 mm. The experimental results show that the proposed antenna achieves good
impedance matching over the frequencies of 3 GHz to 11.2 GHz (115.5%). The measured constant gain and stable
omnidirectional radiation characteristics makes the proposed compact antenna suitable for wideband communication in
aircraft system.

Multiple UWB Antennas System in Aircraft

In-flight Entertainment System

UWB Coverage and Cell Redundancy within a Cabin

Passenger communication and in-flight entertainment (IFE):

Spatial multiplexing schemes can help to meet the high
demands on data distribution capacity by supporting highspeed multiple A/V streams and multi-user enhancements to
ensure the passenger communication and in-flight
entertainment (IFE).

Wireless cabin management system (CMS): Wireless cabin

management system enables the wireless connectivity for fixed
installed or mobile devices within the cabin. Here, Multiple Input
Multiple Output (MIMO) diversity schemes like Space-Time-Frequency
Coded or dual mode can provide improved coverage, robustness to
interference and link redundancy. Spatial Division Multiple Access
(SDMA) techniques can further offer better power efficiency of the
access points and reduced multi-user or inter-cell interference.
Mobile maintenance terminals: Beamforming with multiple antennas
can support extended functions for the crew, by e.g. improved
localization or interference suppression.
