Dear Parent/Guardian of ___________________________________:

Your child is currently enrolled in an Algebra I course taught by Mr. Campbell, Mr.
McIntosh, Mrs. Robertson, Mr. Stodola, or Mrs. Wellwerts. For a variety of possible
reasons (late enrollment, absences, poor performance, etc.), your childs current
grade is an F with below 50% performance. Without a significant change during the
last 7 weeks of this semester, your child would not likely pass Algebra I.
The Algebra I teaching team has volunteered to teach an Algebra I intervention boot
camp after school three days a week for two weeks. They will reteach (or for some
teach for the first time) all of the content from the first nine weeks. Quizzes and
tests will be retaken and old scores will be replaced with these hopefully higher new
scores. A small class size is anticipated, allowing for more of the individual help that
struggling students need. These sessions will not cover material from the second
quarter so students will have to take responsibility to be successful on that content.
All classes will run from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Dates of classes:
Unit 1: November 9th, 10th, and 12th in room 1009
Unit 2: December 7th, 8th, and 10th in room 1002
A tutor bus runs at 4:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
There are certain expectations that the Algebra I teaching team have regarding this
extra opportunity class. These include:
Being on-time to each session and staying until dismissed.
Not being disruptive in any way to the learning process.
Putting cell phones away and off during the class sessions.
Following directions and giving strong effort to be successful.
This is not a required class, though passing Algebra I this semester will be difficult, if
not impossible, without attendance. The student will likely lose credit for the first
semester if they do not take advantage of this second opportunity. Violation of any
of the above expectations will likely lead to your child being asked not to return for
future sessions.
The Algebra I teaching team looks forward to working with your child on this second
opportunity to be successful.
Sincerely,

C O U RT E O U S . C O M M I TT E D . H E L P F U L . S A F E .
