Textbook: Wilson: College Algebra A Make it Real
Approach: Cengage Learning, 2013

Course Description:
College Algebra can be taken for dual credit; enrollment is held at the beginning of the course. This course
fulfills Arizona university entrance requirements. This course will cover analysis and interpretation of the
behavior and nature of functions including polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, power, absolute
value, and piecewise-defined functions, as well as systems of equations, modeling and solving real world
problems.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)


As members of the Coyote family, we pride ourselves on our dedication to Community, Values, Honor and
Scholarship. Students are expected to meet specific positive behavioral standards both in and out of the
classroom. These behaviors, such as being respectful and practicing academic honesty, are what make Campo
Verde such an amazing place to learn. During this school year, students will participate in a school-wide
initiative focused on the promotion and reinforcement of the expected standards of behavior.
Consequences/Interventions:
Verbal Warning
New seating assignment
Student/Teacher Conference
Parent Contact/Conference/Referral
Steps may be altered if the severity warrants accelerated measures.
Homework:
You are expected to complete your work daily; some class time will be allotted
Homework will be checked and stamped at the beginning of class for completion
Unit packets are due the day of the test
Tutoring/Extra Help:
Tutoring is available everyday during the second half of lunch or by appointment.

Attendance:
Attendance is vital to your success in class since each day will progress on previous lessons. This is a
collaborative classroom environment and requires your presence to obtain the full learning benefits. If you miss
class, it is up to you to contact the instructor and obtain any missed notes and/or assignments.
Absent:
o After ten absences a student may lose credit for the course
o Missed work is due at the time of the unit test
o Tests or quizzes missed must be schedule within two days upon returning to class
Tardy: You are expected to be IN the classroom when the bell begins to ring and proceed immediately
to your seat.
o First and second tardy Warning
o Third tardy Phone call to parent
o Fifth and subsequent tardy Referral to administrator
Cell Phones/Electronic Devices
Cell phones and other electronic devices may not be used during instructional time unless directed by the
teacher. If used inappropriately, then the following will apply:
First Offense: Student will place device in the secured file cabinet and sign for its return
Second Offense: Student can pick up the item from the office after the final bell of the day
Third Offense: Parent/Guardian must pick up the item from the front office at the end of the day
Fourth Offense: Parent/Guardian must pick up the item from the front office at the end of the day and
the student will receive an additional consequence from their administrator
Dress Code: Appropriate attire is required as described in the student handbook. Offenders will be sent to the
nurse for a change of clothes. Hats will not be worn in the classroom.
Water: Students are allowed water in the classroom as long as it is in a clear container. Outside drinks will be
disposed upon entering the classroom.
Grading Policy:
Class Participation - Daily participation is required
Point System (Assignments):
5 points =neat, 100% complete with work shown and at least 90% accuracy
4 points = neat, 80% complete with work shown and at least 80% accuracy
3 points = neat and at least 70% accuracy
2 points = incomplete, but something turned in
0 points =not submitted
