I love to watch Tommy build things with blocks. He is meticulous

about the placement of each one, especially when he gets started. He knows that if he wants to build something very tall, it needs
to have a sturdy foundation.

July, 2016- Volume 7

The month of July is a very important month for the children in this community. While young people are in full swing of enjoying their time off from school and parents have reached the peak of
frustration of children being off from school, we have a number of children who will be going to
camp at Okoboji and even more children who will be attending VBS. For many kids who dont
attend church regularly, this is a foundational moment for them. Learning the stories found in the
scriptures, learning about the love of Christ, and seeing that love demonstrated by the people all
around them. Being accepted for who they are exactly where they are. Learning there is something more.

Please keep the following Campers in your Prayers:

VBS was an important part of the summer when I was growing up. Not only did I get to
see the church building in a new way, I was able to see how so many people of my community
were invested in helping me build a strong foundation for my faith, whether they were helping
make crafts, feeding us snacks, singing songs, or teaching us a Bible story, everyone involved
helped me learn what the church was really all about.
The church isnt just a building, the church is the people who come together and the future
of the church rests on a strong foundation formed in our next generation. Zechariah 8:9,12 This is
what the Lord Almighty says: Now hear these words, Let your hands be strong so that the temple
may be built. This is also what the prophets said who were present when the foundation was laid
for the house of the Lord Almighty. The seed will grow well, the vine will yield its fruit, the
ground will produce its crops, and the heavens will drop their dew. I will give all these things as an
inheritance to the remnant of this people.
This summer, invite kids to come and participate, demonstrate your faith for them, share
with them your favorite memories of the church as a young person. Ask them to sing for you, and
invite them to share with you their favorite verse, it is amazing what happens when you see the
foundation being built and knowing that you are a part of it.
Blessings ~ Pastor Kris

If you are aware of someone in need of a pastoral call, please inform Pastor Kris at 712-344-2846. She would
rather hear from multiple sources than from no one at all. In these times of privacy rights, hospitals and nursing
homes may not divulge information relating to a resident or patient, so it is very important that members and/or
their families let the Pastor know of all needs for pastoral care.
