Dear Parents/Carers

Summer 2010 GCSE Examinations

Please find enclosed your son/daughter’s GCSE examination timetable for summer 2010. A
copy of the summer timetable is also available on the school website at
www.welling.bexley.sch.uk.

Please check carefully that the entries and tiers are correct and inform the school
immediately if you have any queries.

Punctual attendance is essential – students should attend registration in their tutor

group at 8.35am as usual. Once registered, they will make their way to their exam venue at
8.45am ready for a 9.00am start. For afternoon exams students should line up outside their
exam venue promptly at 12.55pm. Where students have an afternoon examination, they
may not leave school at exactly 2.55pm. Students should check on the notice board outside
the dining room for details of where they will be sitting their exam – this information will be
displayed a few days before each exam. When students do not have an exam they will
attend lessons as usual.

Formal regulations apply in all examinations and also attached is a copy of the JCQ notice
to candidates which explains the guidelines for written exams. I would like to draw your
attention to the following:

• Mobile phones/iPods/MP3 players etc must not be taken into the examination room
and contravention of this regulation may lead to disqualification from the
examination.
• Any pencil cases taken into the examination room must be transparent.
• Students must write in black ink or ballpoint pen.
• Students must wear full school uniform at all times.
• Students may bring a drink of water if they wish, in a sports cap bottle with the label
removed.

Please ensure that your son/daughter has all the necessary equipment for their
examinations, ie a black pen, pencil, ruler and if required a calculator.

If for any reason your child is unable to attend any examinations, the school should be
informed immediately.

Yours faithfully

J Eden
