UPGRADE SHEET: UNIT D1

This page provides additional information for users of the Course Book
Contexts of Procurement and Supply (2012 edition).
THE OFFICE OF GOVERNMENT COMMERCE
The Course Book refers several times to the UKs Office of Government Commerce
(OGC). The OGC no longer functions in its original form and its responsibilities have
been allocated to different areas within the UK Government. However, its
publications remain an authoritative source of guidance on best practice in
procurement and definitions of terminology. It is perfectly valid to cite the work of
the OGC in these areas when answering exam questions.
CORRECTIONS
Page 127-128, paragraphs 1.8 to 1.11: The combined use of ICT through electronic
means to enhance internal and external procurement processes in obtaining goods
and services should be referred to as the wider term of e-procurement rather than
the narrower term of e-purchasing. This covers all steps from knowledge of need
through to payment.
Page 165, throughout Chapter 8: Where a function or structure is referred to as
being decentralised in this chapter, this means that it is devolved.
Page 205, paragraph 6.7: The cross-reference for services procurements should be to
Chapter 1 section 6, not to Chapter 2.
