Semester: Good Standing

Susie Johnson was placed on Academic Probation because she did not meet all the requirements.
She received a 1.00 for the fall because she only received one letter grade that counted toward
her grade point average (GPA). She withdrew from three of the five courses she registered for
which landed her at a 25% completion ration. TABLE 1 illustrates that in the Spring, Susie did not
retake any of the course work she withdrew from, but she did well with a spring semester GPA of
3.33. Her cumulative GPA became a 2.84 which removed her from Academic Probation

One Requirement Not Met: Progression Ratio (67%)
Spring Semester: Good Standing
In the fall semester, Johnny registered for four courses (16 hours) and withdrew from one course
and did not pass his Calculus course. This resulted in Johnny completing 8 hours out of the 17

hours he initially registered, leaving him with a 50% progression ratio. Table 2 shows Johnny did
not retake the courses he withdrew from in the fall. During the spring semester Johnny did,
however, was able to repair his progression ratio by completing all the coursework he registered
for (5 courses and 14 hours) which took him off Academic Probation after the spring semester.

Sam Smith- No Requirements Met: 1.8 Semester GPA, 2.0 Cumulative GPA, and
Progression Ratio (67%)
Spring Semester: Continued Academic Probation
At the end of the fall semester Sam Smith was placed on Academic Probation because he did not
meet any of the requirements for the Academic Standing and Progression Policy. Sam registered
for six courses (15 hours), withdrew from one, had one course that did not count toward the GPA,
received failing grades for two courses, and earned six hours. As a result, Sams semester and
cumulative GPA is .60 and he completed 27% of all his hours attempted. TABLE 3 illustrates
Sams spring semester continued to be a challenge in meeting the requirements. Sam was able
to meet the semester GPA requirement, but was unsuccessful in meeting the cumulative GPA
(2.0 or better) and completion ratio because Sam withdrew from three of the five (17hours)
courses registered. As a result, this led to Sams Continued Academic Probation Status.
