Production Support

Case Study

Production Support
Client Profile:
A nationwide provider of government compliance filing services with
offices in more than 40 cities. They are one of the largest and oldest companies in the industry. Their services include public record searches and
document retrieval/filing. These services are delivered through a combination of web based applications and local field offices.
Its client base is primarily financial institutions including banks, leasing
companies, commercial finance organizations, corporate credit management companies and title companies. The client delivers business value
to its customers by automating their government compliance filing and
due diligence search process.
A database of aggregated public records containing financial disclosures, provided by the various government agencies, is the core of the services provided. It is used extensively in internal processes as well as being provided externally through a subscription service directly to its clients.

Problem
Ongoing maintenance of the core database was a constant need that was demanding ever increasing resources to
meet the required quality and timeliness goals. As the source data originates from many different agencies and
systems there was a wide variety of formats and data quality issues that needed to be managed. In addition, the
format and content of this data is very dynamic and would change constantly without warning.
The business objective was to implement a process and system that would make maintenance of this database more
efficient, standardized, and cost-effective while maintaining the required timeliness and data quality.

Solution
The Digital Group engineers reviewed the existing load process to capture the rules and relationships in formal
documentation. They then created a powerful data mapping tool to validate and cleanse the source data before it is
loaded into the production environment through optimized loading procedures
After creating this optimized system, The Digital Group took responsibility for ongoing operational support and
now performs this activity at their offshore facility on behalf of the client.
