AUTONOMOUS LEARNING PROJECTS

1. Make a poster with photos from a party that you have had or have attended. Write
and act out dialogues for the people in
the pictures.
2. Write your own fable or fairy tale and illustrate the pages to make a book. Use time
expressions and descriptive adjectives.
3. Role-play a job interview in which the various qualities that would be necessary to
do the job successfully are discussed. Justify your choices. The interviewer and
interviewee must demonstrate some knowledge about the qualifications required at
an existing American company as well as the organization itself.
4. Describe your favorite holiday through a poster. Tell why it is celebrated and how it
is celebrated.
5. Write to a friend to decline an invitation that he or she extended to you or role play
the situation. Make polite excuses about why you cannot attend. Another alternative
is to role play a similar situation.

1. You are the representative of an large technology company. Convince the
audience at a convention that your technological products are worth buying. Describe
them and talk about their features.
2. Write a narrative about a trip you took to a distant land. Talk about what you forgot
and what effect it had on your trip.
3. Make an itinerary for a trip you want to take. Include the time of departure and
arrival, the name of the hotel and its price,
and information about tours you will take. Then pretend you are at a travel agency
and want to pay for a tour that is in line
with the itinerary.
4. Cut out pictures from a magazine of items you would need for a camping trip.
Label each item and tell about the use of each item. Then role play a situation where
you are discussing these items and buying them at a store.
5. Write a list of the types of emergency information a flight attendant would give on
a plane before it takes off. Illustrate the instructions. The pretend you are a flight
attendant who is offering these instructions on a real plane.
