First Day Plan

1. Arrive early.

Room is decorated, desks arranged to create a warm, positive, and welcoming

environment.

2. Greet students at the door.

3. I will introduce myself to the students, welcome them to the class, and tell them some
things about myself.
4. Pass out school handbook and school folders.
5. Pass out my syllabus, guidelines, and student/parent contract and get required signatures
for appropriate forms once all are reviewed.
Materials needed will be listed.
Information in the handouts will be reviewed with my students.
6. I will review classroom rules and consequences:
1. Have a respectful attitude.
2. Follow the teachers directions.
3. Come to class prepared and ready to learn.
7. I will be sure to discuss rewards.
8. I will review classroom procedures and expectations:

Entering the classroom

Leaving the classroom

Beginning of class
Being tardy
Class dismissal
Signal for attention
Helping other students
Handing in completed work/homework
What to do with unfinished work
Using the restroom
Going to your locker and getting water
Using the pencil sharpener

9. I will give the students a tour of the classroom.

10. I would like to know something about my students and will ask them to share

11. When the bell rings, be sure they know that I dismiss them and not the bell.
