CHINESE GUESTS FROM FUZHOU 2

JULY 8

TH

JULY

We shall be welcoming our guests from Fuzhou next week. The older children in our school will have the chance to
look after and befriend our visitors. Two or three of our guests will spend time in classes sitting alongside our
children. Some of our children will experience and benefit from Chinese writing classes during the week. I would like
to express my thanks to our parents who have generously offered our guests accommodation during the week. I do
hope this experience will be interesting for you and a real success!
ICE CREAM VAN
I have recently been made aware of a complaint that has been made to South Ribble Council from a local resident on
Severn Drive who has experienced some of our school children wandering up their private drive and sitting on their
garden wall when waiting for/eating an ice cream. Please could I ask that parents are vigilant of their childrens
behaviour if in this area after school. I would like to ask you to remind your children of the fact that we must consider
our neighbours and respect their private property. Many thanks.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO PARENTS FROM PARENTPAY

Please can all Tempest Class photo forms be returned to school no later than Friday 8 July.
BRASS LESSONS FOR NEXT YEAR
Children in Year 4 have been sent a letter asking if they would like to continue tuition next year in smaller groups of
about 4 children. This would work out at only 5.50 each lesson and the children would keep their instrument for as
long as they are receiving the tuition. It is a commitment and all children having these additional lessons would have
to complete the year. The progress they would make with Miss Coleman from the Lancashire Music Service would be
marvellous and would be a most valuable skill for life!
SWIMMING LESSON CHANGES AND CHARGES NEXT YEAR
I have recently received some level of interest in the decision that had to be made regarding our Nursery and Year 4
children not being able to swim next year. Sadly, we rely heavily on contributions that are made each week by our
parents of 1 each week (36 pounds each year). It is extremely good value but as we receive no additional funding for
its maintenance and staffing for this pool for the lessons we deliver, it is currently not possible. Should all parents
commit to paying each week; this decision could definitely be reviewed in the future. To allow all of our children to
benefit from this quite unique and terrific facility is most important and could enable us to make our children water
confident and happier swimmers for the rest of their lives.
SCHOOL TEAM KITS TO BE RETURNED
If your child has represented the school and worn a blue or red/black team kit, please wash and return it as soon as
possible. Unfortunately, we have been involved in tournaments and competitions recently without all children having
the school strip. This would be much appreciated.
