I. IDs for the New School Year
Parent IDs
Current parent IDs will continue to be valid for the new school year 2010-2011.
Parents who require replacement school IDs due to loss or damage can acquire these from the Security Office upon
payment of Php100.00 to the Cashier.

Student IDs
All students will be issued with new ID cards at the beginning of the new school year. This year there will be no need for
returning students to visit the Security Office as we will be utilizing the photographs taken for the yearbooks.

School Passes
School passes issued to parent’s employees and representatives need to be replaced for next school year. As of August
31, 2010 the burgundy bordered passes will be invalid.

The security office is now accepting applications for new school passes, however the cards will not be available for
collection before July 1, 2010.

Each family will be given two free school passes. Additional school passes may be obtained after paying a processing fee
of Php100.00 each to the Cashier’s Office.

2, Car Stickers for the New School Year

The car stickers for school year 2010/2011 will be available from the security office beginning July 1, 2010.
For vehicles already displaying an existing sticker, parents should submit a completed renewal form with a copy of a
current LTO official receipt. For new vehicles, parents are reminded that a copy of the vehicle’s certificate of
registration and a current official receipt need to be submitted with the application. Applications for vehicles registered
with companies or other institutions should be supported by a letter of assignment.

Each ISM family will be issued one vehicle sticker free of charge. Any additional stickers will be issued following payment
of P100 to the cashier’s office.

Dear Parents,

This is purely an advisory note to alert you to the fact that we have had confirmed cases of chickenpox in the high school
recently. Chickenpox causes no serious problems for most healthy people and recovery is usually quick and complete.
Please read the information given below.
What is Chickenpox?
Chickenpox is an infectious disease which spreads from person to person by direct contact or through the air from an
infected person’s coughing or sneezing. A person with chickenpox is contagious 1-2 days before the rash appears and
until all blisters have formed scabs.
What are the symptoms?
The incubation period - the time from exposure to the chickenpox virus until you develop symptoms – is usually 14 to
16 days but can be from 10 to 21 days. Your child may feel sick and have a fever for 1 to 2 days before the
chickenpox rash develops. The most distinctive sign of infection is an itchy rash of red spots and blisters. Some
children may have a worse rash and more symptoms than others. If your child develops such a rash, please do not
bring them into school in consideration for the other children, staff and faculty.
It takes about 1 to 2 days for a chickenpox red spot to go through all of its stages including blistering, bursting,
drying and crusting over. New red spots continue to develop every day for as long as 5 to 7 days. Symptoms usually
last about 10 days. You should no longer be contagious when all spots have dried up and no new spots are
appearing.
How is chickenpox treated?
Most healthy children and adults will need only home treatment for chickenpox. Home treatment includes resting
and taking medications to reduce fever and itching.
It is possible to get a vaccination against chickenpox which may reduce the symptoms or even prevent infection. If you
wish to have this, please discuss it with your pediatrician.

Dear ISM Community,

The end of the school year is fast approaching, and I would like to keep everyone abreast of the changes that will take
place in the canteen for school year 2010-2011.

After a lengthy bidding process of the canteen concessionaires that was vetted by a canteen committee comprising
students, parents, faculty and administrators, it was determined that the four current back concessionaires (Allegro,
Piadina, Deli-France and Red Kimono) would continue to provide their services. It was also felt that Urban Chef, which
services the main canteen, would also continue but with only half of their present space.

At the beginning of the school year, feedback from students, faculty and staff about the current canteen services, indicated
a strong interest in having more vegetarian/healthy options. After careful consideration, we have offered a canteen contract
to Yogi Chef, which will offer a range of vegetarian and vegan alternatives thus providing options to canteen users that have
never been available in the past. Yogi Chef will be located in the section of the cafeteria that currently houses the pasta bar,
sandwich bar and fruit smoothie area. For those parents with ES children, they will have the option to select Yogi Chef as
the lunch provider for their children but at this time it will be pre-packed food rather than a buffet set-up. Please note that
lunch sign-ups start at the end of July.

One other change in Elementary food services is that, due to low numbers, the student morning snack service for children
will no longer be available. This means that parents who want their children to have a morning snack will need to pack this
for them on a daily basis.

Reminders for CLASS OF 2010:

o Graduation practices are on Tuesday, 25 May at 1:00pm and Wednesday, 26 May at 1:00pm. The practices will be in the
FAT. Only those students who attend graduation practice sessions will be allowed to participate in our graduation
ceremony. Graduation caps and gowns will be distributed at this time. Seniors should also return textbooks, clean out
lockers, settle any other outstanding accounts and complete their clearance sheets in order to get their diplomas. All seniors
will be handed their clearance sheets at the graduation rehearsal on Tuesday 25 May. Seniors who have not completed
clearance will not be allowed to walk in graduation.
o The Senior Lunch will be at 12:00 noon in the FAT Lobby Thursday, 27 May. This will be followed by a Senior Celebration
talent show commencing at 3:00pm in the Fine Arts Theater
o Our Commencement Exercises will be held on Friday, 28 May, starting at 5:30pm in the Fine Arts Theater. All graduating
students, properly attired in caps and gowns, must assemble in the AMR at 4:30pm. Students are expected to dress in
formal‐semi‐formal attire.
o Each graduating student will be given FOUR tickets for the ceremony – two tickets for the senior’s parents will have reserved
seating while the other two will be on a general admission (open seating) basis. Please return extra tickets to the High School
Office, so that they can be reissued on a first come, first served basis to accommodate those with more guests. If more than
4 tickets are needed, requests may be submitted to Laurie in the High School Office. Only those with tickets will be allowed
entry.
o Please note that pictures may only be taken from your seats; you will not be allowed near the stage or in the aisles during the
ceremony. The official photographer will be on hand during the ceremony to take photos of the graduates and will also have
a studio set‐up in the AMR on May 28 starting 1:00pm and will remain open till 4.30pm when the graduates need to
assemble in preparation for the ceremony. Please see the information below for the photography schedule. This will be on a
first come, first served basis within your assigned time slot.
o A graduation fee of P 2500 has been charged to your school account. This fee covers the costs for the official graduation
photography package and the senior lunch. DVD copies of the graduation rites will be available for a separate charge of P500,
along with additional copies of photos. Orders may be placed directly with the photographer on the day of graduation.
International School Manila is not involved in the payment and distribution of orders made with the photographer.

designated slot. If not, you will be photographed after everyone in
the last slot 4:00 - 4:30pm Sekar to Zobel is finished.

We only have 180 minutes to process 167 graduates (1.2 minutes per
family), so your cooperation will be invaluable and greatly appreciated.
