Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory

Batavia, IL

Making physics
accessible to all
The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab)
conducts leading-edge physics research. The mysteries
of nature are explored at Fermilab on a 680-acre site
that is home to the world’s largest particle accelerator.
AldrichPears Associates developed an Interpretive Master
Plan for Fermilab to meet the needs of all visitors to
the site, from school children to Nobel Laureates, while
maintaining a level of security befitting a lab of this caliber.
We facilitated a series of collaborative workshops to
define a vision for Fermilab that will guide the long-term
development of interpretive exhibits and media on the site.
We also developed concepts for the visitor center. The plan
was submitted in 2003.
