What is community
service?

It is the practice of altruism within one's

community.
 People become involved in community
service for many reasons: for some,
serving community is an altruistic act; for
others it is a punishment.
 EXAMPLES OF
COMMUNITY SERVICE
 Helping in relief operations during
calamities.
 Building old age homes.
 Creating awareness.
 Educating people.
 Helping the society develop.
Non-obligatory service to a public entity or a
private, non-profit organization that is
representative of a community or a significant
segment of a community and that is engaged
in meeting human, educational, or
environmental community needs, including
churches and other religious entities and
community action agencies.
VOLUNTARY SERVICE BY
ARMED FORCES

 Apart from saving the country from wars

and invasions, armed forces also lend a
helping hand to the society at times of
need.
