Sampad’s RADIU5 - Visualising Youth Culture


Youth Culture Co-ordinator (Freelance )

SAMPAD is seeking an experienced co-ordinator to support develop an innovative volunteering project.


Funded through V Inspired as part of mytwentytwelve the project will involve recruiting young people
within a 5 mile radius of the new mac – Midlands Arts Centre to raise the profile of creative activity
amongst the young people of those communities.

Could you work with SAMPAD to :


CREATE new cultural volunteering opportunities for young people within 5 mile radius of mac
DELIVER outreach work and assist in a high quality mentoring programme using new technologies
IMPLEMENT innovative creative solutions to raising the profile of community activities via data
visualising and social media

PRODUCE a digital artwork with the digital visualise representing young people’s research into arts &
cultural opportunities

EXPLORE William Penny Brooks’ original Olympic vision to celebrate the achievements of local people
Can you demonstrate :
- Proven experience of inter-cultural working at a local level
- A track record of working with young people (up to 24 years) eg outreach work, mentoring,
youth arts, volunteering or training
- Exceptional co-ordination of youth/arts/volunteering programmes
- High quality administration skills
- Handling and using new technologies
- An ability to be self motivated and keen to take on new challenges

The position will be offered based on :
- A freelance contract (individual responsible for own tax/national insurance contributions)
- Work base flexible depending on requirements of programme (centred on mac venue)
- 2 days per week/8 days per month (in region of £150 per day depending on experience)
- The project will commence June/July 2010 – June 2011
- Management support through Janette Bushell (Project Manager) and
Urmala Jassal (Sampad Programme Manager)
- Enhanced CRB required
- Own transport an advantage
