DETERMINATION
English 9: Shotgun Play
Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”

Shotgun Play Learning Task

 The Shotgun Play must be at least 30 seconds, and at most, 1 ½ minutes.

 Select either three or four scenes from William Shakespeare’s playwright


“Romeo and Juliet” that you believe are important parts of the story.

 The Shotgun Play is to be presented in a video slideshow.

 One or two team members are to narrate the scenes.

 Once selected, the facilitator must approve the scenes.

 Contemporize parts of the scenes. Leave other parts in the current


Elizabethan language.

 Contemporized version of the Shotgun Play must be approved by the


facilitator by March 18th, 2010.

 Events must be in chronological order. (Example: Balcony scene, wedding,


death scene)

 Follow the story line while you are acting. Do not add in your own ideas that
are not found in the story. (Example: Romeo and Juliet can’t not fall in love.)

 Must include some sort of technology. (Examples: cell phones, emailing,


laptop computers,

 Final draft of Shotgun Play Learning Task is due on March 25th, 2010
