What About You?

Part 4 of Series: Question Everything

June 12 & 13, 2010

“When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his

disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’

“They replied, ‘Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still
others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’

“‘But what about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’

“Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Christ,

the Son of the living God.’”

Matthew 16:13-16 (NIV)

TWO KINDS OF QUESTIONS:

 QUESTIONS OF THE MIND

These questions can be used to draw us closer to
God or to justify our distance from Him.

 QUESTIONS OF THE HEART AND SOUL

These questions will always draw us closer to God.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with
all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes

from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is
my fortress. I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62:1-2 (NIV)
WHAT WILL IT LOOK LIKE WHEN OUR
HEART AND SOUL CONNECTS WITH
GOD?

1. OUR FAITH WILL BE PERSONAL

“You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be
born again.'” John 3:7 (NIV)

2. OUR FAITH WILL BE PUBLIC

“Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will
also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone
who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my
Father in heaven.” Matthew 10:32-33 (NLT)

3. OUR FAITH WILL BE PRACTICAL

“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I
have been doing … If you love me, you will obey what I
command.”
John 14:12; 15 (NIV)

4. OUR LIFE WILL BE A PICTURE

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but
Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in
the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

 Baptism is a perfect picture of what Christ has done for us.
