The Ava Doner Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Los Angeles Chapter of
WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation or a related field. The
scholarship honors Ava Doner, who was a wonderful role model and mentor to many women in
the transportation industry. She was a pioneer in business with a long and illustrious career as
president and founder of Engineering Associates. She helped establish organizations to
encourage the growth and development of aspiring women entrepreneurs and found time to

The Ava Doner Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship is in the amount of $5,000. In addition,
WTS LA will award a second scholarship in the amount of $3,000. The scholarships are
competitive and applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: transportation career
goals, academic record including curriculum and grades, commitment to transportation as
demonstrated by extracurricular activities and/or work experience, writing skills, and the
recommendation. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply. The minimum selection
criteria are as follows:

IV. Personal Statement: A statement about your career goals after graduation and why you
think that you should receive the scholarship award. Statement should not exceed 750 words
or three pages. Please write in the space provided below or attach additional sheets with
email, if necessary.
VI. Official Transcript: Submit by postal mail an original copy of your transcript sealed by
your school.
VII. Proof of Enrollment: Submit by postal mail a copy of your tuition receipt or current
registration card.
