The recession has been a tough storm to weather for the Freedom House, a Green Bay homeless shelter for
families.

Freedom House says at certain points this year it's seen donations down 30 to 40% compared to the same time last
year.

And the need for services is increasing: Over the last 5 years there's been a waiting list at Freedom House
(currently there are 27 families on that list.)

This weekend, a local dance troupe is taking the stage in support of the shelter.

All the proceeds from their Meyer Theater performance Sunday afternoon went to Freedom House.

Barbara Cedergren, owner of Barb's Center for Dance, said "it is such a beautiful organization. They teach the
families life skills and how to get back on their feet there is just so much more that they do for families than just give
them food."

But the family shelter says it's traveled a tough road lately as a non-profit trying to secure donations in our
economy.

Robyn Davis, President of Freedom House, said "as the donations have come down the need has not so we
continue to have a waiting list every year that we've been in our current facility which is the last five years we've had
a waiting list every day."

Last year Barb's Center for Dance raised $13,000 dollars for the Salvation Army, and at Sunday's holiday event
they hoped to raise even more money for the Freedom House.

"We are doing everything we can to make sure that the doors do not close so we're tightening our belts, we've
reduced staff and we've cut expenses where we can and we are in a community that is very giving," said Davis.

"So today is a tremendous blessing for us because we know we'll be able to continue to do our work," she said
